“Can you make a video about _____?

We enjoy hearing suggestions for video topics, and if we had it our way we’d be able to work on all of them. But unfortunately, time moves forward and our cosmic pause-button still hasn’t arrived in the mail — so we’re sadly not able to take video suggestions, due to the sheer work-investment required to produce each video.

If you would like to vote on future topics, you can join our Patreon community and take part in a seasonal poll to decide topics for future videos.

Can I sponsor a video?

We are open to sponsorship offers that we believe will provide value to our audience. For products or services related to mythology, history, writing, or student-help, please send us an email to discuss further. If we believe the sponsorship is an appropriate fit for our channel, we’ll respond with a quote and explain next steps. As our production schedules require us to work weeks and months in advance, we cannot create any sponsored content without substantially-advanced notice.

We do not accept sponsorships for book publications or free-to-play/mobile videogames.

Who has sponsored you in the past?

We have worked with a variety of sponsors in the past. In the interest of transparency, they are: Audible, Campfire, Choices, Lego, NordVPN, Rusty Quill, Squarespace, The Great Courses Plus, The Never Hero, World Anvil, and World of Warships.

Please be aware that our standards for accepting sponsorships have become increasingly strict with time. Thanks to our community of Patrons and enamel pin merch, we are no longer reliant on sponsorships as a source of revenue stability, and as such we are proud to do significantly fewer of them nowadays than we did a few years ago. We believe that producing content with as much operational independence as possible is in the best interest of our community.

do you accept fanmail?

Yes! We have a PO Box. Email us for the address.

Please note that we are not currently accepting books or other large items.

Can you read my project and give feedback?

Unfortunately, due to the time commitment required to read stories, scripts, and other projects, we do not provide any beta-reading services or direct writing help. For that, we refer you to our cartoonishly-huge library of Trope Talks.

We’re not looking to expand OSP beyond the two of us for a few reasons. Firstly, we’re very happy with the way things are now, and aren’t looking to branch out into other areas. And secondly, the two of us have known each other for over ten years, and have been working together for more than five, during which time we’ve developed a great deal of trust and teamwork. You may see some of our friends pop into videos or streams, but the core of our channel is Red and Blue.

That said, if you’re passionate about creating content, we want to see you succeed doing something you care about, your way. Shoot us an email and we’d be happy to give you some tips on starting your own channel.

Are you accepting new members?

Can we collaborate on a video?

Collaborations are really fun to see come together but they’re also quite challenging to organize. Send us an email or tweet at us if you’re interested in collaborating, but please be aware that our schedule can be rather strict.

Yes, but not as a full bibliography — our History videos contain sources and suggestions for further reading in the description, our Trope Talks cite media examples used (or simply search the Trope name on TVTropes.org), and in our myth videos Red directly references the source texts in question. In instances where we go into our interpretation of a source, we go out of our way to distinguish where the sources end and our analysis begins.

However, we don't retain full citation lists in the way an academic paper would. That said, we encourage you to do your own research on the subject(s) if you're curious! Learn some tips for that in our How To Research video.

Can you give all of your sources used in ____ video?

We strongly encourage you to use our videos as inspiration rather than direct sources, but if you truly wish to cite us directly, you can do so. Refer to your specific citation style for details, but you’ll at least want to include our channel name, the video title(s), which one of us made the video (“Red” or “Blue”), the video link, the fact that this video is hosted on YouTube, and the date published.

Can I cite your videos?

Commissions for custom art pieces are currently closed, but we will make it known on our Patreon, Twitter/social media, and this FAQ page when they reopen and how that process works. In the meantime, we highly suggest you support the work of independent creators by commissioning a piece from one of the artists listed in the replies to this Tweet, and the replies to this newer tweet.

Do you do art commissions?

Can you send a message for my [child / friend / partner]’s birthday?

We have a digital OSP birthday card we would be happy to send you for any birthday celebrations. It’s customized with the name and age of the birthday celebrant and contains a short message on the opposite side. Please email us if you would like this digital birthday card.

Yes! Please feel free to use any of our videos for educational purposes. We simply require that you do not modify the videos in any way or charge for access to them.

Can I use your videos for a course?

Despite our best efforts to generate permanent Discord links, earlier links we created would periodically expire. Unfortunately, it’s not feasible to go back to every video’s description to update our links each time they break.
However, we have since created a permanent vanity link, so you can join our server by visiting Discord.gg/osp.

Although YouTube has ended support for community-translated captions, there are still options for you to assist with localization.

We have an entire page on this site dedicated to this exact topic — so if you wish to contribute, check there.

How can I contribute translated captions?

We are sorry to hear that something in your order went wrong. We unfortunately do not have the ability to resolve issues related to production, shipping, or packaging — but we can direct you to contact Support@Crowdmade.com, who may be able to assist you.

I had an issue with my Pin order from Crowdmade.

For reasons of cost-management and ease of production, we release our enamel Pin Packs for only a limited time, in the two weeks after the release of the pins’ corresponding video. We heavily promote our pins in videos, twitter, our podcast, livestreams, instagram, our community tab, and YouTube shelf during that two week window to ensure that anyone who wants pins will see them, so they can get them.

If you missed one of our seasonal pin releases, don’t despair, because at the end of every November, starting on Black Friday, we’ll be re-releasing all of our pin packs for the holiday season. So if you missed them the first time around, or just want an extra Apollo pin to comedically affix to a lampshade, this is the second opportunity you can anticipate every year.
These Black Friday pins are stocked in a fixed quantity. If you want to grab them, please be aware that they can go fast, so plan to be swift — in 2020 our whole stock of pins sold out in 3 days. Though we’ve planned ahead to avoid that quick a clearout, we can’t guarantee how long they’ll remain in stock.

I missed the chance to get a pin pack! Will it be back in stock?
